Peer Support
Peer Support Team Clinical Supervision and Consultation: Includes team supervision, facilitation
and coordination of quarterly 3-hour trainings, which includes various subject matter experts and local resources. Cost is based on the total number of personnel served by your agency (e.g. 50) multiplied by $40.00. January 1, 2020 - December 31, 2020. The amount for 2020 is e.g. $2,000.00.
Telephone & Email Consult: Phone calls less than 15-min, text messaging and emails are included are considered routine business. Do not include any personal health information in email correspondence.
Debriefing and Defusing / “Table or Coffee Talks”: Cost is included in annual peer support team clinical supervision and consultation. This is an instance where peer support team members or a counselor outside of your own organization is requested to debrief or defuse an internal or external incident affecting your organization or a faction of your organization. We reserve the right to subcontract, if necessary, during extreme or unforeseen events.
Better Halves Spouse Group: The purpose of the Better Halves group is to strengthen spouse, family, and responder resilience at home. Group sessions are offered every month and vary in location. For those organizations that have their own Better Halves Group, Building Warriors is available to provide resources or speakers on a as need basis.
Your Peer Support Team Members have completed or have the opportunity to complete:
Peer Support Academy: $250 per person. The purpose of this 20-hour training is to teach emergency
responders how to utilize their life experiences and often times, personal recovery from mental health
and substance use issues, in such a way that others can benefit from their experiences. The Peer
Support Academy is Part 1 of 2 in a certified 50-hour peer specialist training program outlined below:

Continuing Education & Clinical Supervision: 10-16 hours annually
Objectives: This main objective is to meet National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist
Credential core competencies of wellness, recovery, and ethics in peer support provided primarily to
individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Visit

50-hour peer specialist training program outlined below:

Objectives: This main objective is to meet National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist
Credential core competencies of advocacy, education, mentoring and ethics in peer support provided
primarily to individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Member Death Professional Counseling Services: This service would be provided anytime a department member is lost for any seen or unforeseen reason either on-duty or off-duty. This service would provide a minimum of two (2) counselors and peer support members from another organization to be deployed within 12-16 hours of an event. Your departments Chief Staff would be provided a Building Warriors Liaison to coordinate conditions and needs, as many times these events are fluid and ever changing within the first 48 -hours. If more than two (2) counselors are needed additional cost may be required. Counselors will be available to visit fire stations, administration offices and participate in meetings and briefings during the process, which sometimes can take you to 5 – 7 days. This service will also include any debriefing services needed for a defined faction of your department that may be more directly affected by the loss of a department member from the time of notification until the final debriefing after funeral services have been conducted. Consider Building Warriors to be an integral part of your support staff during an event of this magnitude to ensure clear, calm peace of mine, for your members bodies and heart. Additional/Optional Counseling, Assistance, Consultation, Education, Training Sessions, etc.
Professional Counseling: $125 per session. Funding for counseling may be available through
Foundation 1023 at no cost to responders and their family members. Counseling is not offered as part
of a disciplinary process. Sessions may include a combination of therapeutic techniques.
Employee Assistance Program:
Employee Support Services (EAP) counseling rates can be negotiated. A separate agreement is
required. If you would like to add Building Warriors to your existing EAP, please contact your program
administrator.
Reports, Court/On-Site Appearances, or Additional Trainings: If a clinician is requested for on-site
appearances, ordered into Court at the department request, or asked by the department to produce a
specialized report, publicly speak on a topic of interest, the cost is $175 per hour per counselor.
Resilience Training: The purpose of this is to identify known adversities and teach evidence-based
coping skills to adapt and overcome the adversities. Classes have ranged from 90-minutes to 8-hours,
are tailored to line staff, administration, and family. Training delivery may be lecture based or
experiential. Self-Defense: Krav Maga or Brazilian Jujitsu (self-defense) training is incorporated in peer training and often resilience training. Contact us for pricing.
First Responder Yoga: Incorporated in peer training and often resilience training. Stand-alone training
sessions may include both male and female instructors. Contact us for more information.
Miscellaneous: You will be informed of any services that may require additional fees before services
are rendered.
Executive Staff Counseling or Consultation Session: This can be requested when any Executive Level Officer (Fire Chief, Police Chief, Sheriff or EMS Chief) is requesting assistance with a situation in which internal or external factors need to be debriefed or where an Executive level officer needs to reach out for consolidation or counseling for oneself. It is many times difficult for an executive level officer to utilize their own peer support team or speak about things that are in direct correlation with the rank and file of their personnel.
